William came to Canada at 9 years of age, settling in Amaranth Twp. He farmed and became a building contractor, and worked for the CPR in the bridge and building department. Many of the fine old barns in Amaranth were constructed by him. For several years he was a Councillor and Reeve of Amaranth Twp. and Warden of Dufferin County. He was a member of the Orange Lodge, having joined at Laurel, and his funeral was under the Orange Auspices. He retired to 499 Concord Ave. Toronto and was a member of Centennial United Church, Dovercourt Rd. Toronto.
