Mary was born in New Jersey, moved to Amaranth Twp. in 1862 where she spent most of her life on a farm located at L 6, the Brown homestead. She was married to Samuel J. Brown, duputy reeve and treasurer of Amaranth Twp. They had a daughter Mary.
